Planning and Community Development endeavors to preserve and enhance the quality of life of all community members by encouraging and promoting the orderly use of land for redevelopment and growth through the following current, intermediate, and long range comprehensive and strategic planning initiatives:

Realization of the community's vision, which is outlined in the Comprehensive Plan, which is currently being updated.
Implementing the city’s Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, and other land use regulations and policies.
Fostering neighborhood revitalization and stability.
Overseeing the preservation of historic structures.
In fulfilling this mission, the Department encourages full citizen participation and strives to provide excellent customer service and effective responses to inquiries in a professional, timely, and courteous manner
